About the Event
This weekend is compulsory for all those wishing to complete the Expedition phase of their ‘Bronze’ DofE.
Prior to the official start of your expedition (around mid-day on the Saturday) we will provide detailed navigation lessons so that you will be confident in your ability to navigate using the map and compass, using intermediary way-points plotted and recorded on route cards.
The expedition itself will include a hike of around 6 hours (including stops and completion of your aim) to your overnight campsite, where you will prepare and cook an evening meal, sleep overnight and after breakfast re-commence your hike to the final destination, a further 6 hours.
Rucksacks will be provided as will roll-mats, food, cooking utensils/stoves, compass, bungees, matches, brew kit, map and basher (for sleeping under). Gaiters are a nice to have and a light stick is handy so they can see how to get to the toilets. Again a nice to have. A pen knife is very useful. As discussed please wear civilian clothes not MTP although your cadet boots are ideal. Please have some lightweight walking trousers. The kit list is on the Duke of Edinburgh section (CCF Siberian Camp Lesson Kit List). Also check out the DofE Expedition Note on the same page. Leaving on the Friday morning straight after registration. Hope to be back by 2pm on Sunday but your daughter will text you.
This has already been paid for but forms must be submitted (see forms section).
